A Message from the Principal

Wilkie, Martin.jpgWelcome to our Franciscan Village on the Kedron Hill.  In 1929 the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception travelled to Kedron Brisbane with a vision and mission.  It was to build a Franciscan school community based on Gospel Values and relationships based on the teachings of Jesus.  As principal I can confidently say that this vision and mission of our Franciscan Sisters and Friars is still being lived today by our students, families and staff.

St Anthony's School was named after St Anthony of Padua, one of the most well-known and popular Catholic Saints. St Anthony was born in Portugal and joined the Franciscan Order in 1221. St Anthony's Feast Day is celebrated on June 13th and this is a time of great celebration for our school community.

We are very proud of our Franciscan Ethos and Charism. Franciscan spirituality is about the goodness.  The goodness in God and in the goodness in each other as we witness and form relationships.  St Anthony’s is a systemic Catholic Primary School in the Archdiocese of Brisbane.  We are located between two Franciscan Order owned secondary colleges, Mt Alvernia for girls and Padua for boys. Together the three schools exist as an educational entity that is known in the local area as FOTH (Franciscans on the Hill).

As a Parish School we enjoy a very positive partnership with Little Flower Church that comes under the stewardship of the Franciscan Friars. We are delighted to have Fr. Mario Debbistta and the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception as a welcome presence in our school.  Our school is embedded within the Franciscan tradition and our community continues to be inspired by the spirit of St Francis and St Clare of Assisi.

St Anthony’s is proud of their team of professional, dedicated teachers and staff who are providing students with exciting learning experiences in a caring and safe community. We acknowledge our parents who are the “first educators of their children” and actively encourage their involvement in their child’s journey from Prep to Year Six.  We have a commitment to developing strong parent and community partnerships and our Pastoral Care Parent Program is testament to this.

Our school motto is 'My God My All'. We have a commitment to Five Franciscan Values that provide direction to our School Vision and Mission.  We believe that by following these Five Franciscan Values, along with our Franciscan traditions and way of life we will encourage a flourishing and joyful community.

We invite you to read more about our school on our website or to come along and visit our Franciscan Village here in Kedron.

With best wishes
